Amanda Rockman is the pastry chef/owner of Rockman Coffee + Bakeshop in Austin, Texas. You may recognize Amanda from Top Chef: Just Desserts Season 2 or when she was beating Bobby Flay. Amanda also has been recognized with a few awards including James Beard Semi-Finalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef 2015, Cacao Barry Chocolate Ambassador 2015-2023, Jean Banchet Award Best Upcoming Pastry Chef 2013, and Jean Banchet Best Pastry Chef Award 2014.

Amanda was inspired to open her own business with an emphasis on the things she loves the most.

The five pillars are caffeine, gluten, sugar, butter, booze, and these are prominently displayed on the name of her business.

Rockman Coffee + Bakeshop is her first independent project, and she says that it was important to build something for those who enjoy pastries and those who enjoy working at a bakery.

Some signature items you'll find at Rockman include the kouign amann, different types of croissants, egg breakfast cakes, a peanut butter cookie with raspberry strawberry pate de fruits. Plus "on the weekends, we have additional specials!"

For someone who is starting out in this industry, Amanda says that you really have to love it.

It probably goes without saying, but there needs to be a lot of dedication and time to hone your craft. "It's very interesting," she offers. "It's also very demanding."

Amanda's relationship with Mission is truly great. "They helped me not only design my kitchen, build my kitchen, but also supply my kitchen with actual equipment needed to be successful!"

She likes to work with the people that are there, and Mission positioned her to get through the steps to build her kitchen.

"They listen when I have issues, they help me out," says Amanda, "and to me that's the gold standard."
