INGREDIENTS:
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 2 slices bacon, cut into 1″ pieces
- ½ Tbsp. garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
- Cook bacon in a saucepan over medium heat until almost crisp, about 6 minutes. Do not drain grease.
- Add sliced onion. Cook until onion is soft and golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook until garlic has softened and brown, about 1 more minute.
- Lower temperature to low heat. Wash green beans and place directly into saucepan. The water from the green beans will create steam to cook them.
- Stir, coating the green beans with the bacon, onions, and garlic. Place lid on saucepan and slow cook the green beans for about 20 - 45 minutes, depending on how tender you like your green bean. Stir occasionally.
- Once cooked to your liking, add salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer beans and juice to a deep serving dish.
