The Welder position is responsible for constructing and assembling metal structures and components according to specifications. The Welder is expected to always represent the Company in a professional and ethical manner and reflect Mission’s Core Values (Family, Genuine, Resourceful, and Driven).

Job Description

Reports To: Shop Manager

Direct Reports: No

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Perform welding tasks using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on different types of metals including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
  • Assemble and fabricate metal parts and structures according to blueprints and specifications
  • Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly
  • Inspect welds and finished products for accuracy, strength, and adherence to specifications; Perform necessary adjustments or rework to meet quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools, including welding machines and cutting torches; Ensure equipment is in good working condition and report any malfunctions or safety concerns
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and hearing protection
  • Adhere to safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a welder in a fabrication shop or similar environment
  • Hands-on experience with various welding techniques and metalworking equipment
  • Ability to interpret and follow detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work in various positions
  • Must be dependable, punctual and possess an excellent work ethic
  • Must be comfortable working in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational training or certification in metalworking or a related field is a plus
  • Relevant welding certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME)
