Inside Mission: Equipment Specialist Supporting School Kitchens

Published on: April 4, 2026

At Mission Restaurant Supply, every project begins with a relationship. For Liz Barron, Equipment Specialist  in the Public Funds Division, those relationships often start with school nutrition directors working to serve students in their communities.

For the past three and a half years, Liz has partnered with school districts across Lower South Texas, helping design and equip kitchens that support the daily work of feeding thousands of children. In her video, Liz shares how being part of the Mission family means being part of a community that truly cares.

Through her work, she helps districts turn ideas into functional kitchens that support programs serving students every day, something that continues to motivate her in the work she does.

Turning Vision Into Reality

Many projects begin with a conversation about what a district hopes to accomplish.

Sometimes that vision reaches beyond a traditional school cafeteria. One project that stands out to Liz involved a director who wanted to transform an old, unused building into a training space where students could learn independent living skills.

Starting with little more than an idea and an empty space, Liz worked with the district to design and install a functioning kitchen that would allow students to learn how to cook and care for themselves. Today, the space continues to support those students, and Liz still enjoys visiting the facility and staying connected with the director who shared the original vision.

Projects like this remind her that kitchen design can have a meaningful impact far beyond daily operations.

Partnerships That Drive Every Project

Much of Liz’s work centers around the relationships she builds with school nutrition directors who share a passion for serving children in their communities.

From the first consultation through installation, she works closely with districts to understand their needs, recommend equipment, and help guide projects from planning to completion. That collaboration helps ensure each kitchen is ready to serve students efficiently from day one.

One installation that stands out took place during a busy summer, when a district needed new equipment installed across multiple schools while summer school programs were still in session. With tight timelines and many moving parts, Mission’s installation team worked closely with district leadership to complete the work without interrupting meal service.

Meeting those expectations and exceeding them, is what makes projects like that especially rewarding.

A Team That Supports the Mission

For Liz, the team behind the work at Mission Restaurant Supply is just as important as the projects themselves.

She describes her colleagues as dedicated, detail-oriented, and passionate about the work they do. From the sales team to project managers and installation crews, every part of the organization works together to ensure customers receive reliable equipment, clear communication, and dependable support.

That level of collaboration is one reason many districts continue to trust Mission for their kitchen needs.

Looking Ahead

As she looks toward the coming year, Liz is most excited about continuing to strengthen the relationships she has built with school directors throughout the region.

Meeting new partners, reconnecting with longtime customers, and helping districts improve the kitchens that serve their students are all part of what keeps the work meaningful.Because at Mission Restaurant Supply, projects are never just about equipment. They’re about the people and communities those kitchens support every single day.
